I think these solar garden lights are pretty unusual compared to a lot that you’ll find out there. These are very much ambient lights. They’re not going to light your garden up like a security light. But let’s say you’re sitting outside with some friends on a warm evening. The vino is flowing and conversations are easy. Everyone is nicely relaxed. One of these lights on your table will banish the darkness with a gentle pool of light. Enough to light up faces without being intrusive.
Pleas note: I can do just about any of my cylinder lights in a solar option. If you want the highland cow, for example, just add it as a note and I’ll adapt it accordingly.
But back to this one. Featuring a hare gazing at a full moon, this light is deeply rooted in English folklore. Linked to the goddes Oestre, this light symbolises rebirth, the rising of the sun, spring and new biginnings generally in Anglo-Saxon and Pagan belief systems.
Regardless, it’s a really pretty thing to have lighting your evenings in the garden.
In terms of functionality, it couldn’t be simpler. There’s a main on/off switch that you can leave in the on position unless you want to store it for longer periods. by day, it draws its energy from the sun to recharge. At dusk, it switches on automatically, and then goes to sleep at dawn to recharge. It’s actually quite poetic when you think of the subject matter of the light!
At 200mm tall and 90mm in diameter it’s nicely proportioned for a small to medium garden table. You can always buy two if your table is bigger and you think you need it.
The light it made from PETG and the solar bit is waterproof meaning that this can be left out all year in all weathers. Just clean the shade with some warm water and a soft brush if it needs it and wipe the top where the solar panel is with a soft cloth.
