Elephant Lamp – Rechargeable Elephant & Baby Elephant Lights

Baby elephants seem to have two speeds. Standing perfectly still, usually while investigating something with their trunks, or charging off at full speed as though they’ve just remembered they’ve got somewhere terribly important to be.

Meanwhile, Mum follows along at a leisurely stroll, keeping an eye on proceedings and probably wondering what all the excitement is about.

That’s the little story I wanted to capture with my Elephant Lamp designs.

I’ve created two versions, one featuring a magnificent adult elephant and the other a rather enthusiastic youngster. They’re available individually, but I’ve also included the option to buy them together, because I think there’s something rather lovely about keeping the family together.

The Adult Elephant

There’s something quite extraordinary about elephants. They’re enormous, immensely powerful animals, yet they can be remarkably gentle and attentive, particularly when it comes to their young.

For the adult Elephant Lamp, I wanted to capture some of that quiet strength. The elephant is the main focus, with the surrounding landscape providing a sense of space and atmosphere.

I particularly like the detail in an elephant’s skin, the folds around its trunk and ears, and those wonderfully expressive eyes. They’re features that work really well with the soft illumination of the lamp.

The Baby Elephant

This little fellow is a different character altogether.

He’s got places to go, things to investigate and absolutely no intention of waiting for anyone.

The baby elephant is the star of this design, with Mum nearby, following at a much more sensible pace. I wanted the picture to have that feeling of a family outing, with all the enthusiasm of a youngster discovering the world and the quiet reassurance of knowing Mum isn’t far away.

I think it’s a particularly nice image for a child’s bedroom. Not just because baby elephants are rather adorable, but because there’s a little story behind the picture.

Choose Your Favourite, or Keep the Family Together

You can choose the adult elephant, the baby elephant or both lights together at a discounted price.

I rather like the idea of the two sitting alongside each other on a shelf, although they’d work equally well in separate rooms. Perhaps the adult in the living room and the youngster in a child’s bedroom.

A Little Light, Wherever You Need It

Both lamps are rechargeable, so there’s no need to keep them plugged into a wall socket. You can put one on a bedside table, a bookshelf or a sideboard, then move it somewhere else whenever you fancy a change.

There’s no trailing cable to worry about, which is especially handy when you’re trying to find just the right spot.

A full charge provides around 12 hours or more of illumination. A couple of hours charging every few days should keep things going nicely.

Each light comes with its own remote control, allowing you to choose from 13 LED colours and five brightness levels. You can also have the colours gently fade from one to another, and there are 30 and 60 minute automatic switch-off timers.

I tend to prefer the warmer white settings for wildlife designs like these, as they bring out the natural colours without distracting from the artwork.

Whether you’re an elephant enthusiast, looking for something a little different for a child’s bedroom or buying a gift for someone who loves wildlife, I hope these lights bring a smile.

And if you decide to buy the pair, at least you won’t have to worry about the little one wandering off. Mum will be right there to keep an eye on him.

The shade is 3D printed using PLA, a plant-based plastic commonly made from corn starch. I then print the artwork directly onto the surface using my UV printer, giving the finished light its colour and detail.

The original artwork for this design was created with the assistance of AI and then used as part of my process to create the finished light. Each light is personally made and finished by me.
