This is my first “collection” of lights – Autumn Lights. This is 8 lights inspired by the designs of William Morris and the Arts and Crafts movement of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Each autumn light features a different theme based on autumn flora and fauna.
Using the drop down, you can choose from (Make sure you choose… selecting an image won’t select the corresponding light from the dropdown):
Each of my autumn lights features a richly detailed image wrapped around the whole cylindrical body of the light. You’ll see something different depending on the angle that you view from, guaranteeing interest.
The image on each light is a lithophane. This is where the 3D printer prints different thickness of material to generate light and shade. Switched off, you see a textured cylinder – almost like a case. Switch it on and that’s when the magic happens. The image appears like a black and white photo before your eyes. I’ve seen this hundreds of times and I still get a kick out of it!
The lights are USB powered. So no nasty voltages involved. You just need a normal USB wall plug and you’re good to go. They’ll even work off a battery pack – that’s what I’ve used in the images. So you could get one of those and your light can be placed anywhere.
The lights are remote controlled. You get a 24 button remote enabling the following:
Each light is about 92mm in diameter and between 227mm tall so it’s big enough to make a statement without overpowering everything. The light is a gentle ambient light. You’re not going to be threading needles by it but it does add a lovely glow to any space.
