Captivating Retro Lamp

Emulating the classic art deco/1930s look, this 3D printed retro lamp is guaranteed to bring a warm and cozy ambience to any room in your house.  This is a variation on my “lily” lamp.

Features of this retro lamp:

  • 12 colours plus white to choose from as the source. These are further enhanced by the colour gradient of the shade which goes through a spectrum of autumnal shades including ambers, browns, earthy greens and golds from top to bottom
  • Rechargeable LED light source which should last for between 12 and 16 hours or more depending on the colour chosen
  • Includes a handy remote control for all functions
  • Recharges in around 2 hours using the included 50cm USB-C charging cable
  • Settings to fade or flash through all available colours
  • A timer to switch the light off after 30 or 60 minutes
  • Highly tactile design with it’s spiral, geometrically arranged ribs

The main body of this retro lamp is PLA, or polylactic acid. This is a material made from natural sources like corn starch or sugarcane, making it better for the environment than traditional plastics made from fossil fuels. One of its biggest advantages is that it is biodegradable. This means it can break down naturally over time, reducing the amount of waste that ends up in landfills or pollutes our oceans.

Unlike regular plastics, which can take hundreds of years to decompose, PLA can return to the earth in months under the right conditions, such as in industrial composting facilities. It can also be incinerated to provide energy. This leaves no harmful residues and doesn’t release harmful chemicals into the atmosphere.

Another benefit of PLA is that it produces fewer greenhouse gases during its production compared to traditional plastics. This helps to reduce the impact of climate change. Since it is made from renewable resources, PLA also doesn’t deplete finite resources like oil. Using materials like PLA encourages sustainable farming and reduces our reliance on harmful chemicals and processes. While it’s not a perfect solution, PLA is a big step forward in creating a greener future.

 

Please note:

  • Clean with a soft damp cloth and do not use anything harsh or abrasive
  • Children should be supervised when using this light
  • Rechargeable lights come with a 50cm charging cable. It is recommended that you use the cable supplied for safety reasons but other cables will work
  • Rechargeable lights can be charged using any USB adapter plug
  • USB lights can be powered using any USB wall adapter, a power bank or other suitable USB power source
  • Solar light are only charged via daylight
