This article is to give you some tips on how to choose the best photo for your personalised light.
Each light is printed with your photo wrapped around into a cylinder shape. In order to get the dimensions right, it needs an aspect ratio (the ratio of the width to the height) of 4 to 3. This means that if the image is, for example, 2000 pixels wide then it needs to be 1500 pixels high.
Don’t panic if you can’t do this. Either I’ll do it for you if the photo will work like that, or I’ll print your light with the photo in portrait mode. In portrait mode, it just means that the image will wrap about half way round. This will still look great and in some cases will actually work better.
If you’re taking a new picture on your phone, hold the phone sideways rather than upright. If you’re going through photos you already have then choose ones that are landscape format rather than portrait if you possibly can.
You can see that the image here is portrait format. The coloured bit is where I’ve drawn a rectangle to show how it might be cropped. This shows that some bits of the photo just can’t be included.
The best thing to do is to upload the best photo you can when you order and I’ll see how it works. If there’s an issue then I’ll come back to you and we can work out the best way to proceed.
