New Arts & Crafts Style Lights

I’ve always loved the Arts and Crafts movement — the attention to detail, the focus on craftsmanship, and that beautiful blend of function and artistry. It’s something that really resonates with me, and I wanted to bring that same spirit into the world of 3D printed lighting. That’s how my latest project came about: a series of cylindrical lithophane lights that combine old-world charm with modern technology.

If you’re not familiar with lithophanes, they’re basically images that are etched into a thin surface — in this case, 3D printed plastic. When the light is off, the lamp looks like a simple white cylinder. But flick the light on, and the magic happens. The image appears, almost like it’s glowing from within. It never fails to make people go “wow” when they see it for the first time.

Designing these lights has been such a rewarding process. I wanted to keep the shapes clean and simple — cylindrical forms that don’t shout for attention when they’re off, but become warm, glowing art pieces when they’re on. They’re perfect for adding a soft, ambient light to a room, and they fit right in with that handmade, Arts and Crafts aesthetic that I love so much.

Each one is designed with both form and function in mind. I make sure the lithophane walls are just the right thickness to show detail clearly without becoming too fragile. The bases are designed to hold rechargeable LEDs, so there’s no faffing around with wires or sockets. And the materials I use are durable and lightweight — perfect for everyday use.

The real fun, though, is in choosing or creating the images that go into the lithophanes. I’ve been experimenting with nature motifs, stained glass patterns, and even classic textile designs — all inspired by the Arts and Crafts style. The goal is to create lights that feel warm, handcrafted, and just a little bit magical when you switch them on.

If you’re into that combination of traditional design and modern making, I think you’ll really enjoy these. I’ve got a few different designs available already, and I’m working on more — some with seasonal themes, and some that are just pure decorative joy.

As always, I’m open to suggestions too! If there’s a particular pattern or motif you’d love to see, feel free to drop me a message. Designing these has been a real passion project, and I’m excited to keep expanding the collection.

Thanks for reading — and if you do pick one up, I hope it brings a little extra glow to your space.
